It’s the Oil

First a word about Venezuela.  Oil  It’s always been about the oil. Not drugs because fentanyl does not come from Venezuela. Proven fact. The majority of the drug comes from Mexico. Get the facts. And Paul Singer, one of the billionaires who has made millions of contributions to GOP political races stands to profit significantly from the […]

New Year’s Reflection

Are you partying tonight? My celebration will be small, just me and one of my sons. As in years past, we’ll toast the New Year around ten o’clock because it’s midnight somewhere. Then he’ll go back to his house & we’ll both be tucked in before the bell tolls midnight.  Tomorrow I’ll make a few

Countdown to Christmas

Decorating… check. Baking… sorta check. Still cookies to make. Gifts and cards… also sorta check. Still have to wrap a few gifts. House ready for company… check as soon as I get all the wrapping paper and bits of ribbon off the guest bed. Now to just close down my office for the rest of

Countdown to Christmas With Humor

First story is something I wrote about the weeks before Christmas a long time ago as part of my weekly humor column for the Plano Star Courier. While the people and places have changed, not much else has when it comes to getting ready for the Big Day. I’m always in what I call The

Fun With Words

I’m still knee deep in unpacking and settling into my new house. The one room I thought had no more boxes to unpack and was finished except for artwork and curtains, now has boxes of said artwork on the floor, waiting for someone with a hammer to show up at my front door. 🙂 My

Oldies But Goodies

Happy Monday everyone. I’m still busy unpacking and setting up my new home. Had a walk-in shower installed on Saturday and happy that one major project is finished. Having workers in the house for several days really stressed my senior cat. She was anxious and vomited several times on Saturday, but was better on Sunday.

Humor to Brighten A Day

Moving day is getting closer, so this will probably be my last blog post until after I’m settled in the new house. During my sorting and packing I’ve come across a few of my newspaper columns that I wrote for many years when my husband and I were raising our family. The kids were young

Kids do Nothing for our Self Esteem

The following is an excerpt from my humorous memoir, A Dead Tomato Plant and a Paycheck. The book is a collection of the humor columns I used to write for the Plano Star Courier, a suburb of Dallas. A number of readers had suggested I put them together in a book, and a number of years later
