ABOUT THE BOOK
She wants to know the truth, but some secrets might be better left alone…
Kate Thayer has a good life as a veterinarian, running the family horse farm—until she uncovers an act of unimaginable treachery by those she trusted most and learns that everything she knew about herself was a lie. Her paternal grandmother, the woman who raised her, is behind a number of devastating secrets Kate is compelled to discover. But the deeper she digs, the more betrayal she finds, changing her life in ways she could have never foreseen.
COMMENTS
Unfortunately, I was not able to read enough of the book to do a full review. I had agreed to the read and the guest post this coming Wednesday long before my life got so busy with family issues, the show I am directing and my own writing, but I did not want to let S.J. down by not doing the feature. She was so conscientious about getting me the book and all the blog material, I had to follow through.
Regarding the book, I do know there are compelling elements to the story based on other reviews on Amazon, and there is plenty of family drama and intrigue to keep a reader interested.

Do come back on Wednesday to help me welcome S.J. as my guest. She is being interviewed by her protagonist, Kate, and it is a fun read.
I’m into this book by a few hours and when I think nothing else can come up, something else does. I would not want to be in Kate Thayer’s shoes. Lots going on in Shattered Lies.
I agree and I wish I had more time to read the book. I did tell the author that I have a lot going on in my life right now, and I will try to read the rest of the book and do a review on Amazon and Goodreads later.
Hello Linda! Thanks for taking the time to stop by and leave a comment! I’m always happy to see you. Thanks for following me, too. It is greatly appreciated. Hope to see you again. Have a great week!
Cheers! S.J. Francis
What a rip off this was! I was expecting a book review for this book and you didn’t even have the decency to read it for your blog guest. I wouldn’t want you to host me.
You agreed to read the book for this author and then what? Life got in your way? We all have lives, lady. Why didn’t you follow through? I see you followed through for other authors. I hope S.J. Francis doesn’t recommend you to anyone else. Sounds to me as if you don’t know what you are doing. If S.J. Francis reads this, I hope she tells you how very rotten you are!
Yes, I’m an angry visitor! I hope the author is too! I hope you didn’t break your word because the book has African-Americans in it. That wouldn’t be right.
Hello! I came here to find a book review for S.J. Francis. I’m disappointed that you didn’t print one. This is my first visit to your blog because I read this book and wanted to see what you would say about it. I see you didn’t even read it. Sad. It’s a very good book! I wonder what S.J. Francis thinks of someone giving their word and not following through with it. Shame on you! It makes me wonder if she’ll even be on your blog on Wednesday.
Nice blog! I’ve read it for awhile now but never commented until now. What happened to the book review for today? Wasn’t there supposed to be one? I’d like to know more about this book you’re showing. Do you agree to reading many books then not reviewing them like you did this one? Too bad you weren’t conscientious enough about reading it for the author and your readers, huh? This proud Texan is very disappointed.
Just one reply to the angry comments. Don’t judge me for things you do not know. Would you rather I had not helped SJ at all with promoting her book? We have corresponded about this and she was very understanding about my situation and grateful for the support I have given her.
I like the sound of this book and am looking forward to reading the book. I’m supposed to get it as a gift from my sister. I’ve read your blog from time to time to check for new books and I was hoping to check out the review here. I’ll check elsewhere for one.
Thanks for a preview.
I appreciate you stopping by, Denise, and I’m sure you will enjoy this book. There are a number of reviews at Amazon, as well as other places in S.J.’s blog tour.
Hello Maryann! Thanks for participating in my blog tour! I greatly appreciate it!
Cheers!
S.J. Francis
You’re welcome, S.J. I am happy to do what I can to support my fellow authors.
Hello Kheirsten, Annyce, Sandy and Denise! Thanks for stopping the by and taking the time to leave your wonderful and encouraging comments. Thanks for visiting my website and following me on my blog tour. I greatly appreciate it!
As for your disappointment, I did receive your notes on my website. I do understand your anger, as I was also a bit disappointed that Maryann did not read the book, but life happens and we have to roll with the punches. I appreciate your support, but lashing out in anger doesn’t help anyone.
I do hope you continue following me on my blog tour. Please do understand that sometimes things happen beyond our control. I did state on my blog that my schedule was tentative.
Thanks again. Have a great week! BTW: You’ve all been entered into the giveaway for a chance to win a personally autographed paperback copy of my debut novel, Shattered Lies. Best of luck!
Have a fantastic week! Stay safe and be happy!
Cheers!
S.J. Francis
I appreciate your understanding of the circumstances, S.J., and your gentle reminder to your fans about the anger. The comments really stung, and your support eases that. What has interfered with my reading the past few weeks has been more than just the daily life stuff, and I hate that I have had little time to read. I’m glad the book I agreed to review next Sunday came weeks ago and I read it before things got so crazy here.
