Emily Dixon and Special Agent Liam Harper, from Lynn H. Blackburn’s “Deadly Objective,” share a few of their favorites.
U.S. Secret Service Special Agent Liam Harper and Emily Dixon, physical therapist to the political elite, are a classic case of opposites attract. On paper, these two have almost nothing in common. In fact, one wonders how they could ever find a way to make a relationship work. I asked them about a few of their favorite things. Their answers were . . . enlightening.
Favorite Way to Spend an Afternoon?
Emily: How would I describe a perfect afternoon? I’d get off work, spend an hour or three shopping. Maybe find an outfit or two. Then I’d grab a coffee and spend the rest of my time with my favorite nail tech. She does the absolute best mani/pedi in the greater DC area!
Liam: Secret Service agents don’t get many afternoons off. But when the rare opportunity presents itself, I head outside and do something physical. Hiking, kayaking, running, biking… I can’t stand to be cooped up inside.
Favorite Food?
Emily: Mexican. I could eat Mexican every day for the rest of my life and be perfectly content.
Liam: I don’t have a favorite. I like just about everything, but what I love to do is try new restaurants and food I’ve never had before.
Favorite Way to Vacation?
Emily: I love my work, and I love my patients. But what I do is challenging and sometimes stressful. So, when I go on vacation, I want to be pampered. I’m a huge fan of all-inclusive resorts with fabulous food and luxury spas.
Liam: I love what I do, but I work a lot, and the pressure can be intense. So when I go on vacation, I want to disconnect from everything. My favorite vacation so far was hiking through the backcountry of Montana. No phones. No email. Bathing in streams. Hiking all day. Sleeping under the stars. I can’t wait to go again.
Favorite Book from Childhood?
Emily: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. When I was little, I desperately wanted to find my way to Narnia and hoped to discover that I was actually Queen Emily.
Liam: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Fauns, centaurs, talking animals . . . and Aslan? What’s not to love?
