Eternal Affair

A One Act Play

Synopsis

Betty Tanner’s ‘chronic’ cancer becomes terminal and she must decide how to live her last weeks. This means taking a stand against her husband who wants her to fight until the bitter end, and the process brings her an unexpected ally in the personification of Death.

Told with truth and humor, this is not a sad story, but one of triumph over fear.

There Is A Time

A One Act Play

Synopsis

Often taking an irreverent approach to life and the possibility of death, four women in an informal cancer support group laugh and cry together as they do battle with the ‘demon.’

Francie, the pragmatist, is the glue that holds the group together. She is also the dispenser of wisdom and theology, sometimes challenging the women to be honest with each other and with themselves. Betty is the sprite who brings magic to the group. It’s her idea to have a lingerie party when the ravages of the disease are all too evident in the women. Donna, a traditionalist, is the first of the group to die, and it isn’t until after she is gone that the other women fully appreciate her impact on them. Mary is the fighter, and as the sole survivor at the end, she comes to realize that it wasn’t by strength alone that she won the war. And maybe she wouldn’t have been victorious without these women who shared the battles with her.
