I actually had forgotten. I've always liked the name Emma and it has a wonderful historical feel, but I didn't realize that I had used it three times. I make notes of main characters and key secondary character names and try really hard not to duplicate them, but with years between books and my tired brain, it appears I let some slip through. At least I can take comfort in the fact that, according to the social security website, Emma was the third most popular girl's name for nearly the entire 1880s decade. So since there were a lot of Emmas running around in the late 19th century, I guess it's only natural to have three show up in my books. At least that's the story I'm sticking to. Ha!

I do appreciate you pointing that out to me. Not even my editors caught that. :-) You must truly be a dedicated fan. Thanks for reading and caring enough about my characters to notice the similarities. :-)(less)

My next project to release is actually an e-novella called Love on the Mend. It is a follow-up to Full Steam Ahead, taking the young runaway Jacob and giving him his own story as a grown man. He finally returns home to the place he ran away from after 16 years, ready to make peace with the past and lay it to rest. Only his past is still alive and kicking. It can be read as a stand alone as well, but if you read Full Steam Ahead, you'll be especially interested in it.

After that, my next full-length novel will be A Worthy Pursuit. I just turned this manuscript in this week Whew! Here's the tagline - A teacher on the run. A bounty hunter in pursuit. Can two enemies learn to trust before losing what they both hold dear? - Oh, and just to give it a fun little twist, the teacher has three of her students with her, all child prodigies of differing varieties. :-)(less)

What's in a name?

For those of you who have children, do you remember the excitement (and perhaps the anxiety) that filled you as you began selecting names? It’s a weighty responsibility, knowing your child will be saddled with whatever you choose for the length of his/her life. No pressure. Ha!

Names are so important. We want our girls’ names to be beautiful and our boys’ names to be strong. Yet more than that, we Read more of this blog post »

Hi, Faith. Fun question! I would say yes. The tale does exist in her world. When I write historical fiction, I set my characters in a realistic version of the past. And since the tale existed in real history, it would exist in hers. :-)

Karen Witemeyer Hi, Holli. I'm so glad Crockett's story lived up to your expectations. I'm always nervous when a new book releases that readers won't like it as well as previous stories. Thanks for the reassurance.

You'll be happy to know that Neill IS getting his own story. It's a novella, not a full-length novel, but it's coming in January, so you don't have to wait too long. It will be part of the collection titled A Match Made in Texas. Authors Mary Connealy, Regina Jennings, and Carol Cox are contributing stories as well. You're so right. I couldn't leave Neill out. :-)

Have a great week!
